L’opera ritrae l’attimo immaginario in cui Caravaggio chiede perdono a Papa Paolo V per l’omicidio di Ranuccio Tomassoni. È un perdono che non arriverà mai: a trattenerlo è lo spettro di Ranuccio, amico intimo del Papa, che da morto sussurra di negargli la grazia. Questa edizione mette in risalto l’essenza del dramma senza animazione, come se fosse la tavola originaria da cui è nato il render 3D animato. The artwork shows the imaginary moment when Caravaggio begs Pope Paul V for forgiveness for the murder of Ranuccio Tomassoni. It’s a pardon that will never come: holding him back is the ghost of Ranuccio, the Pope’s close friend, whispering from beyond the grave not to grant clemency. This edition highlights the raw essence of the drama without animation, like the original tableau that gave birth to the full 3D render.
